Alumni game to benefit Coach L.A.Johnson

Fremont High School basketball players of various vintages will compete in a pair of benefit basketball games on Saturday, Dec. 15 in honor of one of their own, Coach L.A. Johnson.

The game is intended to raise money to help with the expenses associated with Johnson’s year-long battle with leukemia. Johnson has a longstanding connection with basketball in Fremont. A former FHS basketball player, he has coached Fremont basketball players, both girls and boys, for many years and has also worked as a high school athletic official for many years. For many years, he was the host and organizer of countless men’s recreational pickup basketball games.

The event is scheduled to start with a 6 p.m. women’s game, followed by a men’s game at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be a donation of $5 or more.

Alumni who are interested in playing are invited to contact either Julie Gardenour or Ty Miller, both of Fremont.
