The Fremont High School girls soccer team lost to West Michigan Christian by 3 to 2 on Friday, May 16.

WMC held a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kailey Hindes scored Fremont’s first goal in the second half off an assist from Gabby Lounsbery. WMC made it 3-1 a few minutes later.

With a mere three minutes left in the game, Hindes scored again on a pass from Teighlor Bodrie, making it 3-2 and very exciting for the last three minutes of the match.

WMC out-shot Fremont 14-11. Rachel Voyt, Gabby Lounsbery and Kaitlyn VanBoven all played their best matches of the season. VanBoven made 11 saves in net for the Packers.

It was a close game on Monday night, May 19 as Fremont lost in overtime, 2 to 1, against Ludington.

Ludington scored 2:30 into the match and it was 1-0 at the half. Kailey Hindes scored off a pass by Katie Brookhouse with 16 minutes left in the match to send the game into overtime.

Fremont was out shot 4-7 overall. VanBoven made five saves.

Fremont finished fourth overall in the conference.

The Packers defeated Big Rapids by 8 to 0 on Wednesday, May 21.

Bodrie, Cassie Mull and Lounsbery all scored two goals each, while Taylor Moon, Lounsbery, Mull and Rachel Voyt all had single assists. Fremont out-shot BR by 19 to 1. VanBoven made the save.

Fremont faced Sparta on Thursday, May 22 and posted another 8-0 shutout. The Packers out-shot Sparta by 14-2. Hindes scored four goals and had two assists. Lounsbery scored two goals and provided two assists. Bodrie scored one goal and two assists, and Mull added a goal and an assist while Taylor Moon grabbed an assist. VanBoven made two saves and recorded her seventh shut-out of the season.

The Packers’ season ended with a 3-1 loss to Shelby in the district tournament, although the Packers out-shot Shelby by 11 to 5.

Shelby led by 2-0 at the half. Bodrie scored the lone goal for Fremont with 17 minutes left in the game. Brookhouse provided the assist. VanBoven made two saves.

Fremont ended the season at 8-10-1.
