FHS Girls Varsity Bowling team builds successful season

The Fremont High School girls bowling team, emulating the success of the Packer boys, has posted some impressive achievements of its own this season.

So far this year, the Packers have been undefeated in conference competition and placed third in this year’s Fruitport Invitational.

“No Fremont girls bowling team has ever won their first five matches of the season,” said Coach Justin Moon, “and no girls team has even made the cut at the invitational.”

At Fruitport, the Fremont girls made the cut as the number eight team and were seeded against the first place Rogers team. The Packers were down by five pins after the first baker game and then came back to win the second game by 10 pins. The Packers won the match by a total of five pins. Fremont faced eventual champion Rockford in the next round.

“This group of young ladies is going to make some noise in the coming future,” Moon said. “I’m looking forward to seeing both teams make it to state this year and for years to come.”
