Fremont Girls Finish 16th at MHSAA Cross Country Championships

Establish benchmark and gain valuable experience for future seasons.

The Fremont girls cross country season finished 16th of 27 teams in the division 2 championship race at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday, November 3. In a race with 247 finishers, the girls results were; Danielle Lanciaux, 64th/19:41, Katie Brookhouse, 99th/20:04, Courtney Jones, ran a season-best and personal record 20:11 to finish 111th, Laura Anderson 127th/20:24, Melissa Morgan, 163rd/20:49, and Jordan Curtice, 205th/21:40.

The championship race concludes the adventure of the 2007 season in which the girls gradually came to believe the message in the motto, "We can. We will." They attained their goal of making it to the championship event and on the way reached levels of individual and team performance higher than has been seen in several years. It was an adventure in learning to work—together—and showing what the work—by all—can achieve. Their combined performance at the championship event can fairly be described as middle-of-the-pack. And, this performance will likely be remembered as a lesson in, and a step toward, what it takes to reach a higher goal.

Congratulations, girls. You came a long way and accomplished a lot.
