Luchies' second-half goal lifts Fremont over Norsemen

Fremont avoided a late North Muskegon goal and held on for a 1-0 nonconference win Thursday.

The host Packers broke a 0-0 halftime tie with Reed Luchies' goal 12 minutes into the second half.

"He did it all on his own," said Fremont coach Steve Vissia. "He had two defenders coming at him and got off a nice shot."

Luchies' shot beat Norse goalie Greg Sischo in the upper left corner for the lone goal.

North Muskegon (1-3) almost tied the game, hitting the crossbar with five minutes left.

The Norse outshot the Packers 11-8 and Sischo stopped seven shots.

Dylan Graves made 11 saves for Fremont (3-1-1).
