Fremont 8 Shelby 8
Fremont High School sophomore Alex Harmon took the mound on Thursday at Shelby in the first game for the Packers since dropping both ends of a doubleheader earlier in the week.
Aided by 5 early runs, he held the Tigers in check with 3 runs on 4 hits. Mike Mangin and Harmon both drove in runs in the 5-3 Fremont win.
In the second game, Shelby jumped to a 6-2 lead only to see the Packers fight back to knot it up at 8-8 before the game was called because of darkness. Both teams stranded the bases loaded in the final frame. Mac Houston had three hits while Wade Paris and Max Morrison each had two.
“Alex pitched a great game and our defense was solid in the first game,” said Fremont Coach Steve Luchies.” Kelly Paris, our freshman shortstop, sparkled in the field with seven assists.”
“In the second game, our guys really showed a lot of fight to come back and tie the game,” he added. “They really came out there mentally prepared to play today and that itself is half the battle.”
