6:30 p.m.
Present: Norm Goebel, Ryan Ergang, Pam Zuchowski, Cathy Obits, Candee Parkhurst, Marc Gardiner, Jim Breinling, Mike DeKuiper, Jason DeKuiper, Scott Sherman, Ron Vliem, Anita Osterman, Dave Byrne, Rob Atkins, Bob McGraw, Mick Barney, Jerry Dougan, Emily Paige and Brian Hood
- Dave Byrne, Co Chair, began by providing an overview of the process followed by introductions.
- Rob Atkins, Kingscott, presented the site summary for the current high school site. This site currently has 6.8 acres with 2.75 acres occupied by the high school. Copies of the other site summaries were available for those who could not attend the last meeting.
- Rob continued with a presentation of various concept drawings for the 4 sites.
- The NCRESA site (1 concept) has wetland soils and water drainage issues. Luce Avenue would need upgrades in order to be able to handle the increased traffic.
- The Fairground site (5 concepts) may create some traffic flow issues on Stewart if adopted. The fairgrounds would need to be relocated to another site. Some of the concepts presented included additional land acquisitions adjacent to the current site. This site offers the best option for locating all facilities together, tying in the current football field.
- The Middle School site (3 concepts) poses some placement difficulties with the Middle School currently in the center of this site, limiting options for placement of a high school. The proposed truck bypass route will also consume some of this property. Some sports fields will likely need to be relocated.
- Current site (1 concept) limits options for a bus dropoff loop. Plans may or may not include a replacement pool. One block of Darling Street and possibly 1-2 blocks of Maple street may need to be closed.
- Rob presented an updated Site Evaluation Summary Matrix. No site stands out as more favorable than the others with scores ranging from 19-22.
- Dave Byrne stressed that we are only evaluating sites at this point. Eventually community input will be sought on any proposed sites. Other issues such as what to do with the current building and where to move the fairgrounds must be answered before community input is sought.
- Bob McGraw covered a building assessment summary which is summarized below.
| ’07-’08 Util Rate | ’11-’12 Util Rate | Overall Condition | |
| Pathfinder | 91% | 111% | Very Good |
| Daisy Brook | 88% | 91% | Good – Very Good |
| Middle School | 95% | 88% | Good |
| Pine Street | 116% | 129% | Fair |
| High School | 102% | 98% | Poor |
- Next steps:
- To obtain information on the roofs, including condition and age.
- Develop a detailed assessment of the needs and requirements for upgrades at the High School and Pine Street
- Develop a cost or budget for each site
- The next meetings will be held May 13 at 6:30 pm. And May 19 at 7:00 p.m.
