Present:  Jane Tuls, Linda Blais, Trisha Somers, Carolyn Hummel and John Kingsnorth

1. Agreement that we forego the assessment and move to partner with Communities in Schools (CIS).

2. There is some interest to visit other CIS sites.

3. Brainstormed funding
• Discusses FACF summer intern as a possibility—Jane and Carolyn will investigate and apply
• This intern would
1. Seek out funding (benefactors, Gerber, FACF, Grants)
2. Prepare a plan to implement once funding is acquired

4. Recommendation will be drafted. John agreed to draft.

Recommendation of the Community Connections Sub-Committee:

The Community Connections (S3) Sub-committee recommends that Fremont Public Schools, parents and community partner with the CIS (Community in Schools) organization to provide a variety of opportunities targeting the Middle School students. Middle School was chosen based on the perceived need by the committee that mentoring and other young teen activities are lacking. CIS provides a structure and support to fill those needs. Funding for a program director will need to be sought and acquired (approximately $30,000).

5. All will continue to consider ways to attract the money to support.

6. Facilitator/director to work at CIS.
