Get Connected with Fremont Public Schools

You and I are busy people. We have no real opportunity to get together for a chat. Yet we do have new ways we can “talk.” That’s the point of In the Loop: a format for sharing with you regular insights of life at Fremont Public Schools.

Please share In the Loop with your friends. Or have them send me their email address, and I’ll send it to them personally.

1. S3 REPORT

Get ready. Get set. Go!! After all the “readiness” of taking input from various parts of the educational community and “getting set” by identifying the priority areas, we are now ready to “go” or take action.

Many thanks are extended to the people that took part in our various sessions. On October 10, a group of 25 citizens met in the multi-purpose room to sort through the input and concluded with the identification of 4 priority areas to study. The four areas are:

  1. Prepare our students for success in the 21st Century
  2. Parent/community engagement
  3. Facilities
  4. Technology

As we prepare to “go” we need your help. We are inviting you to participate in one or more action planning teams. The teams are charged with studying and making recommendations to the Board of Education in these four areas. The action planning teams will begin their work starting in the first week of November.

Please RSVP with an email or phone call to let me know in which team(s) you are willing to participate. My number is (231 924 2350).

2. ACTION PLANNING TEAMS

The action planning team expectations include:

Each Action Planning Team is charged with studying and recommending action within each priority area.

  1. The first task is to assemble additional members to join the committee.
  2. Each team should select two co-chairs who will be responsible to keep the progress moving and to meet timelines.
  3. Each team must identify the “Desired State” of their priority. The “Desired State” is simply beginning the process with the end in mind.
  4. (for example):

Facilities: one component of the desired state may be that we provide learning environments that can deliver the 21st curriculum or success for all students.

Technology: one component of the desired state may be “we provide all students daily access to utilize technology as a tool for learning.”

  5. After the “desired state” is identified, then goals will be developed to accomplish moving toward the desired state.

THANK YOU. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU AS WE WORK TO PREPARE OUR STUDENTS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY!
