Get Connected with Fremont Public Schools
You and I are busy people. We have no real opportunity to get together for a chat. Yet we do have new ways we can “talk.” That’s the point of In the Loop: a format for sharing with you regular insights of life at Fremont Public Schools.
Please share In the Loop with your friends. Or have them send me their email address, and I’ll send it to them personally.

Lots has happened since last I emailed you so I will try to highlight them.
1. Power outage – the last two weeks had two storms that knocked out the power to the school system. The first just before school was to start. Our staff and kids did a fabulous job of adjusting. It is always pleasing to me to see how people step up and get things done despite the odds. To read Pathfinder principal Mr. Cassiday’s account of what happened, click on this link. http://fps.fremont.net/Pathfinder/Newsletter/2007-2008/October2007/1007_PFThursdayThoughts.html
2. Cross country team successes - all of our fall sports teams are having great seasons but I must to highlight the cross country team. They are ranked in the state and last weekend they beat their nemesis, Dexter in the Portage invitational. Congratulations to all the team members and coach Cliff Somers for performing so well in hot and humid weather. James Lanciaux won the event with a time of 15:24. Go to the following link to read about it. http://www.dyestat.com/?pg=reg42007XCMI-Portage-Invitational&PHPSESSID=1d6ce4515c34761c8121e37cff69b80e
3. S3 – Strategies for Student Success – On October 10 at 6:30 p.m. we will be meeting to pour over the input and determine the goal areas we will study this year. We will form action planning teams to make recommendations in these areas. Please join us on October 10: this is your official invitation.
4. Student count – September 26 was our count day and we are down 38 students from last year. This amounts to a loss of $270,000 in revenue. Fortunately, Bing Hanson Lake budgeted for a 50 student loss so we are up 12 from the budget.
5. Legislation – As you probably know, the legislature and governor arrived at a conclusion to end the budget issues for this year. Where we are as far as school funding remains unknown. I will keep you apprised as the issue unfolds. The link will give you a brief rundown on what happened in the capitol. http://countdowntochaos.org/ctcindex.html
6. Did you know – this power point has been shared with many people in our community. If you do anything else today please take a few minutes and watch this ppt. It gives us a perspective on our world as begin to prepare out kids for the 21st century. Let me know what you think. http://sharing.datadepositbox.com/MyData/?id=354b1e2206a21572272707402b6d46ee488e3d26213c
