Each of Us has a Role

Everyone who lives in a community has a role. We live and work together. Learn to blend our talents and interests. Come to depend on each other.

This has served Fremont well from its earliest days.

Education has been a cornerstone of our community, and a reflection of its growth, over the past 155 years. Children have been taught here since 1856, beginning in the kitchen of one of the first log cabins, then in a small plank house built on a hill where the Fremont Veterans Memorial Park is located now.

In 1879, five girls and three boys graduated from the four-room brick building that was the forbearer of the present high school.

Today, more than 12,276 graduates have passed through our doors.

Throughout the years we have worked hard to keep pace with the changing needs of the community and its children. As education advanced, so did we, with new curriculum and programs to prepare our students for life after school. As the community advanced, so did we, with new buildings and facilities that reflected the community’s values.

Today, we teach our children well. The classrooms the community built in 1926 have served us ably in the 83 years that have followed. Yet we know we can, and must, do more. Advances in technology, studies of how children learn, and the needs of the 21st Century marketplace tell us that we have done all we can with our well-used high school.

That’s why we are ready to follow in the footsteps of the many educational and community leaders who guided our schools throughout our 155-year history. We are ready to build an even brighter educational future, for the good of our children and our community.

We know a new high school, and improved technology for our other facilities, is a financial challenge, but we feel so strongly about the need that it is one we urge you to consider.
